Hello and Welcome to my site! My name is Cassandra Erickson, aka Cassie. I am a self taught artist from the Great Northwest where I live with my wonderful husband, Ryan and two kids, Kaylyne and Ayden. As well as my wonderful canine companions Wicket (a Pom/Maltese), Corrado (a Border Collie mix), and Simon ( a Golden/ Springer mix) They are bossed around by the queen of the house Fenix which is a DSH cat and her pals Rainbow Sparkles (my daughter named her) and Ollie the Green Cheek Conure pair. So needless to say we have a nice full house!!
Ever since I can remember I have had a love for animals of all sizes and shapes. Growing up I had too many pets to count. I took care of and loved worms and caterpillars as a small child then moved onto an iguana, frogs, snakes, different types of birds, cats and of course our family dogs. I started working with pets while working at Petco at 16 then moved to vet clinics and then to a doggy daycare. At that time I was training to become a dog obedience instructor. I began training dogs in late 2000 and have loved it ever since. I opened a doggy daycare in 2006 which I loved, yet recently just closed to pursue my love for art. I started painting pets on rocks in 1999 and went to being commissioned to paint pets on rocks shortly after people seeing my art work. After opening the daycare I slowed down on my paintings and began making healthy homemade dog cookies and custom pet collars. I started painting some of the daycare dogs to hang on the walls in the shop which made my commission painting sales fly through the roof!! It was then that I realized I had a great talent and passion for painting. This past Christmas I started painting pet portraits on Christmas ornaments. I set a high goal of getting 50 orders in the 2 months before Christmas. I was surprised when I made it to 50 ornament orders in a short couple of weeks and had to stop taking orders so they could all get completed in time! I ended up with well over 50 ornament orders and 3 full sized portrait orders!! This was a huge turning point for me. I have realized that painting is what I am good at and plan on devoting my time and energy to painting custom pet portraits and soon to start painting wildlife paintings as soon as all orders have been completed.
